EDORA

Research & invention

A sustained inquiry.
Across disciplines and applications.

More than 25 years of work on the representation of oral knowledge, led by founder and inventor Jennifer Verney Dahan.

01

A continuous research question.

How to preserve understanding as oral knowledge becomes digital.

Work beginning in 2000 connects oral publishing, learning and the organisation of knowledge. Successive applications have taken different forms while addressing the relationship between a source, its context and its use.

Historical work spans legal publishing, information services and research. The current healthcare focus is EDORAMED, concerned with patient experience.

02

Four successive inventions.

A documented history, with international patent applications.

The founder’s historical record identifies four inventions across multimedia publishing, software learning, knowledge bases and the structuring of oral recordings.

The latest generation is documented by US patent 12,130,857 B2, granted in 2024. It describes the organisation of audio or audiovisual recordings using tags and timecodes. Rights, territorial coverage and licensing are reviewed for each proposed arrangement.

03

Realistic Technology.

The EDORA expression for knowledge that remains connected to experience.

This expression describes EDORA’s orientation: making human accounts accessible in their original form, with the relationships and context needed to examine them.

Methodology, technology and professional judgement are developed together. Research questions and proposed applications remain distinguishable from demonstrated outcomes.
